"University Capacity Building Program" (UCBP)

Tbilisi State University participated in the International Conference "University Capacity Development Program" (UCBP) administered by American Councils for International Education in close partnership with the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).

 

The TSU Deputy Rector Erekle Astakhishvili, the TSU Quality Assurance Service Head Shota Photolashvili and the TSU Faculty of Law Deputy Dean Giorgi Dgebuadze participated in the event.

 

The workshop were welcomed by the US Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Counselor, Mr. Alexander Daniels; First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mr. Aleksandre Tsuladze. The TSU rector, academician Jaba Samushia attended the working meeting.

 

The goal of the international conference was to increase the possibility of research cooperation between the USA and Georgia.

 

The University Capacity Building Program (UCBP) is a continuing initiative to grow and sustain research administration and development offices at Georgian universities in order to increase the contribution of higher education and public research institutions to the innovation and economic growth of Georgia.

 

The program also includes a webinar series on research management and fundraising, a US-Georgia Research Collaboration Workshop, a US Study Visit for Georgian Research Administrators, and a series of reciprocal visits to Georgia by US experts.

 

An expert consortium from the US National Academy of Sciences, University of Yale, University of Chicago, University of Zurich, King's College London, and the American University of Beirut are also involved in the program.
